Welcome and thank you for taking the time to find out more about Breast Cancer Awareness and the "Brothers Against Breast Cancer" campaign.

As you browse the ALAYÉ calendar and web site check out your favorite celebrity men of 2003 then take a moment to see what these fine famous brothers had to say about breast cancer awareness.

Is “awareness” even the right word – everyone knows about breast cancer so we’re all “aware” that it exists. My question is this, “since everyone knows and all women are at risk, why do more African American women lose the battle than any other nationality? I put together a focus group and asked that question – here are some reasons women gave: fear, money, time, health insurance, discomfort, lack of knowledge, not in family history, denial, diet, emotions, no or poor self exams, it only happens to other people and so on. “Reason” is a guiltless word for “excuse”. Let’s not make excuses and make “prevention our priority”. Early detection is our best defense.

Join the ALAYÉ “Brothers Against Breast Cancer” Celebrity Team to help raise awareness in the African American community, promote early detection and raise funds to support research. Imagine that a cure depends on you…read on to find out about the “Links II Project”, join our team and see what you can do. A cure is possible with your help!

We are participating in the Komen Virtual Race starting the first celebrity team, and we need your support in the fight against breast cancer. Did you know that this year, more than 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States? The Komen Virtual Race is an initiative that takes the Race experience online - allowing people to join from anywhere at any time. By contributing to the Komen Virtual Race, you will support a global effort to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs around the world.

Thanks for your support this year - thanks to teams like ours the Komen Virtual Race for a Cure was able to raise over $50,000. Together, we helped to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
